"THIS is how we brush our teeth, early in the morning!"
At a special dental health awareness day organised by local Legend Sport & Educational Foundation, the 21 youngsters received crucial information to help them fight tooth decay.
For many it was the first time they had come face to face with a real life dentist. Caring Dr Manyathela of the Folang Medical Centre in Mokopane took time out to teach the five to 15-year-olds everything they need to know about oral health.
He said: “Days like this are extremely important. Sometimes when we dentists are based in the towns we forget that not everybody can afford to come and see us.
“There are a lot of people in the farm areas who need our help but can't afford to get it.
“So opportunities to meet with children like this are essential to enable us to pass on information. I strongly believe that there is no health without oral health.”
Armed with toothbrushes and toothpaste donated from supermarket giant Pick n Pay in Mokopane, the children learned everything from healthy eating to songs to help them remember how to brush their teeth.
