Miss World Contestants Arrive at Legend Golf Safari Resort
From Colombia to Costa Rica, Malaysia to Martinique, the 112 most beautiful women in the world have descended on Africa's most dramatic new award-winning resort.
Reigning Miss World Ksenia Sukhinova, from Russia, and the more than 100 hopefuls who are competing for the honour of becoming the next global beauty queen arrived at Legend Golf & Safari Resort to the sound of traditional Pedi drums. And some of the contestants couldn't resist an impromptu dance with the traditional African Pedi dancers who greeted them at the impressive leisure venue's Great Enclosure.
The contestants are spending two days at the golf and safari resort at the Entabeni Safari Conservancy in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, staying in the luxurious new resort suites. Deep in the heart of the Waterberg area, they will enjoy a specially designed programme of exhilarating activities during their stay including golf on the exclusive 18-hole Signature Course - the only one in the world designed by 18 different famous golfers; close encounters with some very special carnivorous guests, and meetings with eight-week-old white lion cubs.
The theme of the programme is “Save the planet's endangered species”. The beauty queens will swap their stilettos for sneakers as they take a walk on the wild side through the scenic South African bush and learn about some of the most threatened animals in the world.
Conservationist Arrie Van Deventer, of the Legend Wildlife and Cultural Centre at Legend Golf & Safari Resort, said: “We are thrilled to welcome this year's Miss World contestants. Hopefully after two days with us they will leave the resort as passionate about wildlife as we are.
“We want them to go home and be ambassadors for wildlife and to try and do everything they can to preserve these endangered species.”
The global beauties were treated to a South African storm at the end of their first day, however the rains failed to dampen the spirits of the Miss World hopefuls, who sang and danced through the storm.
